Subspace Fracture from Sean O´Reilly (05/18/2001)

See picture of Subspace Fracture.

Sometimes subspace can be your friend, and at other times you can die from it. Be forewarned!

This dilemma can cause a lot of harm if one isn't careful. You can set up the Fracture to kill off an entire crew or Away Team by eliminating or "stopping" some personnel who might be able to aid in passing it.

Dilemmas such as Unscientific Method, Make Us Go, and No Loose Ends target ENGINEERs or SCIENCE personnel... those that target personnel with Leadership include Gorn Encounter and the Trabe Grenade... and there are plenty of dilemmas such as Komar Possesion, A Fast Ship Would Be Nice, Kelvan Show of Force, Strict Dress Code, Vantika’s Neural Pathways, or Framed for Murder which you can use to get rid of any remaining ENGINEER, SCIENCE, or Leadership in an opponent's crew or Away Team.

One final thought: if you plan to steal a mission from an opponent, self-seed the Subspace Fracture under that mission so it's the first dilemma encountered. If your unprepared opponent hits the Fracture they'll lose their personnel - but if you get to the mission first, you can overcome it to earn an easy five points.

Combos:

  • Framed for Murder + Gorn Encounter + Trabe Grenade + Subspace Fracture: Opponent doesn't have any Leadership? Well, opponent now also doesn't have any personnel!
  • A Fast Ship Would Be Nice + Opponent's Borg crew + Subspace Fracture: Kill off that counterpart with Leadership before killing off the rest of their crew.
  • Subspace Fracture + The Next Emanation: Wave goodbye as all your opponent's personnel are gone forever.
