History:

I started playing Star Trek in 1994 and since ´95 I have been organizing tournaments. Ever since I have always had problems finding specific rules. Sometimes I knew in which docment it was, but never the exact position. Even when I had found a rule, I was uncertain whether there could be any more information in any of the other rule documents. Mid ´97 I started to work in Hamburg, which means a two-hour train ride for me. So instead of wasting my time on the train, I had the idea of developing this site.

Late ´98 Decipher completely updated its rules and simplified a lot. But there are still over 500 rules for specific cards or phrases. My main idea was to make it easier for TD's to find all information to any one card or rule quickly. This is the concept I have tried to realize in the Cards and the Rules area.

Soon I realized that the way I was constucting the Rules area, namely using a JAVA application to read the data from an SQL databank, could also be used in other ways. This was the idea that let the Strategy area take form.

But just like trading card games in general are prone to sudden changes (Star Trek more than usual), every current ruling document, every new expansion has it's effect to this site. This is why the encyclopedia always displays when it was last updated (I hope to be able to update the program regularly after changes in the game).
