Card Extra

Dr. McCoy from Evan Lorentz (06/06/2000)

See picture of Dr. McCoy.

The ultra-rare in The Trouble With Tribbles expansion was chosen as a tribute the late DeForest Kelley. Just as Star Trek fans everywhere loved the actor and his character, Star Trek CCG fans are sure to love this card.

To begin with, McCoy is everything we've come to expect of a chief medical officer in Starfleet - double MEDICAL, Exobiology, and Biology. In McCoy's case, it's actually Exobiology x2, meaning he can quickly take care of Garak Has Some Issues and (with help from a Geology personnel) Odo (DS9)'s "Cousin." Throw in a Classic Medical Tricorder to take advantage of his Original Series icon, and you already have a powerful personnel.

Then you come to McCoy's special skill, and it is special indeed. Each turn, he can nullify one dilemma requiring MEDICAL that he encounters. Though his set of skills is already sufficient to overcome some of these dilemmas, this special skill puts many more within his reach. McCoy can single-handedly take out Aphasia Device, Borg Servo, DNA Metamorphosis, Hyper-Aging (naturally), REM Fatigue Hallucinations, Scientific Method, Vantika’s Neural Pathways and more. If you're willing to give up the point bonuses, he can even nullify Tarellian Plague Ship and Barclay’s Protomorphosis Disease - very handy in a pinch!

But if you thought we couldn't possibly cram more power onto one card, think again. McCoy also has a special download of any "I'm a Doctor, not..." card. And since the old country doctor was never shy about letting his shipmates know the various things he was not, expect this to be an ever-more flexible skill in future expansions.
