Card Extra

Hate Crime from Evan Lorentz (07/1998)

See picture of Hate Crime.

This dilemma looks simple enough, but is actually as tough as they come. Very few decks can get by without some non-aligned help, usually from an "alien" race. Even within most affiliations, you'll find personnel of varying species: the Sisters of Duras in Romulan decks, Tallera or Quark Son of Keldar in Klingon decks, Odo (DS9) in Bajoran decks, and too many to list in the average Federation dcek. You'll almost always have a target for this card, and it's usually a vital personnel with skills your opponent couldn't find within one species. The dilemma is your choice rather than random selection, and it's a "fate worse than death" - your opponent can't turn around and report another copy a fallen main character, or restore them with Genetronic Replicator or Extraordinary Methods.

Combos:

  • Hate Crime + Cardassian Trap: Empathy personnel are almost certainly going to be the only member of their species present, letting you set up the Trap.
  • Hate Crime + an Espionage strategy: Use Hate Crime to take out the skills your opponent needs to complete the mission, and then come in with Espionage to complete it before the countdown expires.
